DS-600 was introduced in 1972 as a modular upholstered furniture system made up of individual armchair elements that can be added as desired. The core of each element is a sturdy L-shaped foam covered with a cushion lined with down and leather. The elements are joined together using a plug-in hinge and a hide and zipper construction, with a complementary stool element completing the famous snake-shaped seat. The largest DS-600 is a circular or serpentine endless sofa consisting of 406 upholstery elements in rainbow colors that can be found in the palace of a ruling family of a sultanate. This sofa, affectionately known as the "Tatzelwurm," has also been featured in the living rooms of celebrities such as Tina Turner, Jerry Hall, and Mick Jagger, as well as in numerous Bond films. Initially, it was a challenge to produce the curved sofa, but after a year of building prototypes, it became an indestructible and versatile modular system of upholstered furniture. The DS/600 Combination B model is made of nappa leather with a lightly pigmented finish, and it comes in a nougat color. Other upholstery options are available, such as living, touch, naturale, club, coloral, craft, velour, cirrus, cumulus. The dimensions of the middle seat section are W 24 x D 100 x H 74 cm, and the end sections with armrest dimensions are W 26 x D 100 x H 74 cm. There are different structural versions of DS-600 available.
