DS-600 is a modular system of upholstered furniture consisting of separate armchair elements that can be easily added or removed. It was introduced back in 1972 and is made of hard foam core covered with leather cushioning. These elements are connected with a plug-in hinge and a construction made of hide and zipper. The system also includes stool elements that complement its unique snake-shaped seat design. Its longest version, with 406 upholstery elements, can be found at the palace of a ruling family in a sultanate. The sofa has been spotted in various high-profile locations, including the living rooms of Tina Turner, Jerry Hall, Mick Jagger, and New York's Studio 54. While the initial design idea was brilliant, producing the sofa proved difficult, and countless prototypes were rejected before perfecting it. The leather used in the upholstery is Nappa leather, lightly pigmented, with a characteristic pattern of creases, grain, and pores. It undergoes visible aging, giving it a charming patina. The middle section of the sofa measures W 25 x D 100 x H 74 cm, while the end sections with armrests measure W 25 x D 100 x H 74 cm. DS-600 comes in different upholstery options and structural versions.
