Designed by Eero Saarinen in the late 1940s and 1950s, this dining table features a round tabletop made of thick satin smooth white laminate and a pedestal base crafted from durable molded cast aluminum. It's capable of accommodating 6 to 8 seats and was manufactured by Knoll. Eero Saarinen was a Finnish-American architect born on August 20, 1910. Raised by an architect and sculptor, he pursued his passion by studying sculpting in Paris before turning to architecture at Yale University. After completing his studies, he worked with the Flint Institute of Research and Planning before joining his father's firm. Saarinen garnered worldwide recognition for his innovative designs and projects, including furniture design. He established his own firm, Eero Saarinen & Associates, in 1950 and dedicated a significant portion of his career to furniture and home furnishing design. Throughout his career, Saarinen focused on pushing boundaries and experimenting with design. He meticulously studied all aspects of construction, from the client's needs to final execution, earning a reputation as a leader in exploring new architectural possibilities. He is responsible for designing iconic structures such as the TWA Flight Center and Dulles International Airport. Saarinen's legacy lives on, as his work continues to inspire architects and designers today.
