Tired of rigid chairs that offered no room for movement, Florence wanted a chair that resembled a warm basket full of soft cushions where one could cuddle up and relax. This early model of the 'Womb' chair is a rare find, with a metal shell instead of fiberglass and a unique backrest opening. We recommend reupholstery before use as the original fabric may have some wear and tear. Eero Saarinen's impressive career as an architect and designer has truly shaped the American postwar architecture. His work consisted of designing airports and working for major corporations such as IBM and General Motors. Saarinen's reputation was built upon his design identity that became synonymous with his clientele. Knoll International is a company founded in 1938 by Hans Knoll, a young German furniture manufacturer.
