The Dodge Lancer 2nd Generation was a compact car produced by American automaker Dodge from 1961 to 1962. It was based on the Plymouth Valiant, but was given unique exterior styling, including a distinctive grille and taillights. Under the hood, the Lancer was powered by a 2.8-liter, inline six-cylinder engine that produced 101 horsepower and 165 lb-ft of torque. Transmission options included a three-speed manual or optional automatic. Inside, the Lancer offered a roomy and comfortable interior with seating for five. Standard features included an AM radio, heater, and front bench seat. Optional features included air conditioning, power steering, and a push-button automatic transmission selector. The Dodge Lancer also offered a unique "Swinger" package, which added bucket seats, a console, and a tachometer. The Lancer was discontinued after the 1962 model year, with total production reaching just over 60,000 units.
