Prior to the 2022 vintage, this wine was classed as Premier Grand Cru Classe A. Producer tasting notes: "Light wine, but fruity and pleasant, Cheval Blanc 1987 lacks a bit of structure and is not long-lasting. The wine is of a moderately colouring intensity with tinted hues, a sign of its marked evolution. The nose is very open and aromatic on aromas fond of caramel and pastry. Notes of vanilla and roasting indicate the ageing in new barrels. The attack in the mouth is supple, fresh and balanced. Very aromatic and flattering, the wine is pleasant. It is marked by the terroir of Cheval Blanc without having the structure and depth of the great vintages, despite its fruity aromas. Pleasant and aromatic for twenty years, the wine is not long-lasting and has now finally passed its heyday. It is therefore to drink quickly as it will not benefit from aging. 15th April 2010." - Chateau Cheval Blanc
