Third Growth. Troisieme Grand Cru Classe in 1855. VIntage notes: "The month of June, cold and wet, brought extensive flower shatter. August and September were hotter and drier than average, which allowed for an earlier harvest than in 1986. The loss of so much of the Merlot early in the season allowed very good ripening of the remaining grapes. The Cabernets could have been riper if autumn had been warmer and with less rain. Thanks to the precocious properties of our terroir, our grapes were brought in before the mid-October rains and the wines continue to be extremely pleasant. This needs to be pointed out, all the more so, because it had been said (Robert Parker, November 1987) that 1987 was one of the worse vintages ever !"
