These are vintage Wall sconces with rotating shades created by Charlotte Perriand circa 1960. They remain in their original condition, displaying some minor wear consistent with age and use, which adds to their alluring patina. There are some rust traces resulting from the passage of time. The sconces are made of metal and each one's dimensions are D 7 cm x W 17 cm x H 11 cm. Charlotte Perriand was a Paris-born artist who attended the E'cole de l'Union centrale des Arts de'coratifs from 1920-1925. She designed furniture using materials like anodized aluminum and chromium-plated steel and presented them at the 1927 "Salon d'Automne" in Paris. After meeting Le Corbusier and collaborating with him and Pierre Jeanneret until 1937, they presented revolutionary tubular steel furnishings and system furniture that got widely acclaimed at the 1929 "Salon d'Automne." Charlotte Perriand showed her own work solo at the 1931 Union Des Artistes Modernes (UAM) founded in Paris. Charlotte Perriand collaborated with Pierre Jeanneret in 1937 creating a mountain chalet of sheet aluminum which they presented at the "Exposition Internationale des Arts et Techniques dans la Vie Moderne", followed by plans for prefab houses made of aluminum. She became a design consultant to the Japanese Board of Trade in 1940, and after living in Japan until 1946, Charlotte Perriand's designs revealed overtones of the Japanese feeling for form, as shown by her 1953 chair "Synthe'se des Arts." Overall, these sconces offer a nice way to experience Charlotte Perriand's artistic style.
