This is a sideboard created by Charlotte Perriand around 1950. The item has a steel base, wooden structure, and handles, and the sliding doors are lacquered. It originates from Cansado, Mauritania in Africa. Despite a few scratches on the black door, it remains in good original condition with only minor signs of aging and use, retaining its beautiful patina. Charlotte Perriand was a renowned designer of furniture made from anodized aluminum and chromium-plated steel, and her works were shown at the "Salon d'Automne" in Paris in 1927. She went on to work with Le Corbusier and Pierre Jeanneret until 1937, creating innovative tubular steel furnishings and system furniture that were widely acclaimed. Charlotte Perriand also collaborated with Jeanneret to design a mountain chalet made of sheet aluminum, as well as plans for prefab houses. In 1940, she became a design consultant for the Japanese Board of Trade, which heavily influenced her later designs. The "Synthèse des Arts" chair from 1953 demonstrates her incorporation of Japanese aesthetic principles.
