This stunning Bench with a side table and drawer, along with cushions, was crafted by Charlotte Perriand in France around 1958. The materials used in its creation include mahogany wood, oak, plastic-laminated covered wood, lacquered metal, and fabric. While it does have some minor wear consistent with its age and use, it maintains its beautiful patina overall and is in good condition. Some of its elements have been refinished, such as the replaced white laminated top and parts of the wood. The cushions were recently produced according to the original measurements and made of high-quality wool fabric. Charlotte Perriand was a pioneering designer who began her career in Paris in the early 1920s. She collaborated with architects like Le Corbusier and Pierre Jeanneret on several projects, including the revolutionary "E'quipement de l'habitation" (home equipment) system furniture and tubular steel furnishings. In the 1930s, she exhibited her own solo work and continued to design groundbreaking pieces throughout her career. She even spent several years living in Japan, and elements of that country's aesthetic can be seen in some of her later designs, such as the Synthe`se des Arts chair from 1953. Overall, this Bench is a beautiful and functional piece that embodies Perriand's innovative spirit.
