The "Willow" armchair model, originally crafted by the acclaimed Scottish architect Charles Rennie Mackintosh in 1903 for the "Willow Tea Room" in Glasgow, is an exquisite piece of design. Constructed from black lacquered ashwood and topped with fine leather upholstery, this masterpiece showcases Mackintosh's signature style of complex lines and shapes. The high, semicircular backrest of the chair was specifically designed to separate the entrance from the tea room, giving it a regal feel. Mackintosh was an artist, watercolorist, and designer who drew inspiration from European Symbolism. Alongside his wife Margaret MacDonald, his work had a tremendous influence on European design movements such as Art Nouveau and Secessionism, and was even admired by the likes of Josef Hoffmann. Although Mackintosh was born in Glasgow, he died in London, leaving behind an incredible legacy of artistic excellence.
