This vintage Eames PAC armchair is an iconic piece of furniture featuring a swivel seat upholstered in bright yellow Naugahyde and mounted on a gray fiberglass shell. In excellent vintage condition, the cast aluminum base has an impressive polished finish, while the Naugahyde seat has only minor repairs from three small flaws. This design, created in 1952 by Charles and Ray Eames, is a sought-after piece, and this particular example bears the Herman Miller trademark molded into the fiberglass, a C and a star marking, indicating production in the Cincinnati Milacron factory between 1965 and 1978. Herman Miller furniture was originally founded in Zeeland, Michigan in 1905 and was known for traditional wood furniture until the 1930s, when modernist Gilbert Rohde took the company in a new direction. From there, George Nelson took the company to new heights, with Charles and Ray Eames, Isamu Noguchi, Alexander Girard, and Robert Propst all working with the company.
