The result was his own inventive take known as the Double Flap. This offspring design boasted two remarkable additions that became just as iconic - a chain strap intricately woven with leather and a fastening adorned with interlocking CC initials. In this particular black diamond-quilted version, an extra flap bearing the same name serves the purpose of separating and safeguarding the main compartment. Interestingly, the larger exterior flap is said to conceal a zip pocket that was rumored to be used by Coco Chanel herself for concealing love letters. Each of these masterpieces is meticulously handcrafted at CHANEL's Ateliers de Verneuil-en-Halatte by highly skilled artisans, each having undergone a rigorous training process of at least four years. This intensive fifteen-hour, 180-step procedure ensures that every meticulous technique is mastered to perfection.
