The Valmarana table, created by Carlo Scarpa as part of the Ultrarazionale collection, was crafted in Italy circa 1972. Scarpa was a highly accomplished Venetian architect and designer who, after completing his studies at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Venice, went on to teach architectural drawing at the same institution. Scarpa's career included notable projects like the restoration of the University of Venice's School of Economics in 1935, as well as designs for Venini Glass Works and a number of historic building renovations, interior remodels, and exhibition installations that reflect the influence of Art Nouveau, Frank Lloyd Wright, and Josef Hoffmann. Described as having a keen sensitivity to changes in time and place, Scarpa's work included landscape, garden, and building designs across Italy and other countries like Canada, the U.S., Saudi Arabia, Switzerland, and France. Scarpa passed away in Japan in 1978, and his tomb, located in the Brion Tomb complex in San VIto d'Altivole, Treviso, stands as a testament to his design legacy.
