This Italian Mid Century Modern glass picture frame is a stunning example of "Mezza Filigrana" design by Carlo Scarpa for Venini. The pink lattice decoration within the mirror frame is a beautiful touch, complemented by the original brass pedestal and mirrored glass. The frame bears Scarpa's signature on the back with "Made in Italy" inscribed underneath. Measuring 11.25 inches in height, 10.75 inches in width, and 1.25 inches in depth on the outside, and 8 inches in height and 10 inches in width on the interior, this frame is truly one of a kind. The piece is featured in Anna Venini Diaz de Santillana's 'Venini, Catalogue Raisonné 1921-1986', published in Italy in 2000. Carlo Scarpa, born in Venice in 1906, became a prominent figure in the world of architecture and design throughout the 20th century. He got his start at just 21 years old as a designer for the Murano Glass Masters Company Cappellin & C., revolutionizing the art glass industry with his unique vision. Through his work with Venini, Scarpa continued to create groundbreaking pieces, experimenting with color, texture, and form. His legacy continues to inspire modern glassmaking to this day.
