In 1973, the renowned Italian architect and designer Carlo Scarpa created the SAMO table as part of the "Ultrarazionale" series. The entire table was made of Carrara marble, produced by Simon International, with a thick oval top and legs formed by two fluted pillars. The feet were designed as a single block with grooves, adding to the table's overall elegance. The SAMO table was featured in G. Gramigna's "Repertorio del design italiano 1950-2000" and the Fondazione Scientifica Querini Stampalia's "Dino Gavina, collezioni emblematiche del moderno dal 1950 al 1992." Carlo Scarpa's contribution to the design world earned him numerous accolades throughout his career, including the prestigious Olivetti Prize, the IN/ARCH Prize, the Gold Medal for Merit in Culture and Art, the Presidential Award for Architecture, and appointments as a member of the Honorary Royal Designers for Industry, the Olympic Academy of VIcenza, and the National Academy of San Luca.
