In 1921, Venini and Cappellin established Vetri Soffiati Muranesi Cappellin Venini & C., a glass factory located on the Murano islands in Venice, Italy - an esteemed centre for glass production. They acquired the recently shuttered Murano glass factory of Andrea Rioda, hired the former employees, and retained Rioda as the venture's technical director, with Luigi Ceresa and Emilio Hochs as investors. Venini collaborated with prominent architects and designers such as Carlo Scarpa, Cini Boeri, Gio Ponti, Ettore Sottsass, Tapio Wirkkala, Gae Aulenti, and Massimo VIgnelli, blending the traditional Murano glassblowing techniques with French fashion designer tradition. This listing displays a petite lattimo vase "a mezza filigrana" from the 1930s, designed by Carlo Scarpa and produced by Venini, with the manufacturer's engraved mark on the bottom. The item is in excellent condition and entirely authentic. For secure transportation, we recommend packaging the piece in a wooden crate.
