Celebrating the first anniversary of his Kith boutique in New York, Ronnie Fieg launched the Ronnie Fieg x Asics Gel-Lyte III "Selvedge Denim" in December 2012. Intending to capture American fashion culture in a single shoe, Fieg chose to envelop the Selvedge GL3 in denim and embellish it with red and white accents. Fieg aimed to reflect the hard work and dedication it took to establish his Kith store through the Selvedge Denims GLIII, symbolizing the resilience of Selvedge Denim. The GEL-Lyte 3 also paid homage to the "brown room" at Kith's SoHo store featuring vintage brick, aged wood, and American steel. By blending these concepts into one shoe, the design of the Selvedge Denim stands out among other collaborations. Striped with white leather and red underlays, the ASICS Selvedge Denims age gracefully, forming their unique personality with wear compared to sneakers made of leather or suede.
