The Arne Jacobsen stool model AJ3170, which first went into production at Fritz Hansen in the 1950s, is a rarity and highly prized. Jacobsen collaborated with Fritz Hansen on the design around the same time he created his famous Ant chair, and spent considerable time at the factory perfecting both designs. Originally introduced in 1954 as a three-legged veneer stool, the current iteration with four legs was revitalized in 1970. The AJ3170 features a pressure-molded veneer shell and a teak plywood seat with a distinctive grain, making it both a functional seating option and a versatile side table. What sets these stools apart from later productions and knockoffs are their exceptional materials, including beautiful brass fittings on the seat, earning them the moniker "DOT-stools." Authentic AJ3170 stools are stamped with "FH" for Fritz Hansen, and are rarely found in such excellent condition.
