The AJ Royal pendant in black by Arne Jacobsen for Louis Poulsen is an iconic piece designed in 1960 for the SAS Royal Hotel in Copenhagen. It follows Jacobsen's geometric shape concept and features a simple yet complex spherical dome shape with circular ringed louvers on top that provide a gentle glow. Made of black wet painted spun aluminum shade, steel rings, and a frosted acrylic diffuser, it comes with 12 feet of black textile cord and black ceiling canopy. The pendant is UL listed for damp location and has 9W LED/2700K. It is available in three sizes (9.8", 14.6", 19.7" diameter) and in black or white. The new LED version has an opaline diffuser and comes with either a black or white fabric cord and canopy matched to the selected lamp color. Arne Jacobsen, a world-renowned Danish modernistic architect and designer, graduated in 1927 from the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts in Copenhagen and launched his own office two years later.
