The "Hammer Chair" made of beech plywood was originally designed by Arne Jacobsen for Fritz Hansen in 1955, with this particular set manufactured in May 1965 as indicated by the silver makers labels on the undersides. These chairs were named for their distinctive hammer-like shape and are highly recognizable as a hallmark of Jacobsen's Danish design. Jacobsen himself was an accomplished architect and furniture designer, who embraced functionalism as a core philosophy. The set includes 6 stackable chairs, but they can also be sold individually upon request.
