Fritz Hansen offers a recent production of the iconic 'Oxford' desk chairs, model 3272, originally designed by Arne Jacobsen for the professors at St. Catherine's College in Oxford in 1965. The high back presents an organic curve that blends seamlessly into the seat, while the shell is composed of moulded wood with foam padding and stylishly upholstered in a greenish yellow fabric. The armrests and five-star base with rounded feet exhibit a satin-polished aluminum finish. Arne Jacobsen, a renowned architect and designer, focused on creating clean lines while minimizing material use without compromising technical quality and ergonomic functionality. Interestingly, Jacobsen favored organic shapes in his furniture designs, which differed from his cubist functionalism approach to architecture. Regardless, proper proportions were always a key element in his creative process.
