Louis Poulsen manufactured a scarce early edition of AJ-visor wall lamps in their original grey lacquer during the 1960s. Designed by Arne Jacobsen for the SAS Royal Hotel in Copenhagen in 1957, the fixture emits downward light and has an adjustable shade angle and rotation to optimize light distribution. The first edition of these iconic lamps are recognized by the brass hardware and bakelite sockets. Today, the AJ-visor lamp series is globally renowned as Jacobsen's most famous design. Originally, the series comprised a table, floor, wall, small table, and attachable table lamps. The wall lamp was used in the SAS hotel lobby in stainless steel. Arne Jacobsen designed almost all of the hotel's original furniture and utility items along with the hotel's architecture. The AJ-visor's geometric profile had a formal parallel to the Series 3300 seats and Jacobsen's buildings. The lamps are sold in sets of two, and their provenance comes directly from the family of renowned Danish architect Arne Wahl-Iversen, who utilized them in his studio.
