The Safari six-seater sofa model by Archizoom Association (1966-1974) is composed of four modules featuring a white lacquered and upholstered fiberglass structure. The seats are foam-padded and covered in leopard-print fabric, and it was produced by Poltronova circa 1968 in Italy. This unique piece measures 64 cm in height, 260 cm in length, and 215 cm in depth. It includes two small single-sided modules measuring 64 cm in height, 85 cm in length, and 85 cm in depth, as well as two large double seat modules measuring 64 cm in height, 130 cm in length, and 130 cm in depth. Archizoom Associati was founded in 1966 by four architects in Florence, Italy, and was active until 1974. Their designs were characterized by a mix of kitsch and innovation, and they often parodied the claims of Good Design. They organized two Superarchitectura exhibitions with the architectural firm Superstudio in 1966 and 1967. A similar model of the Safari sofa can be found in the collection of the Pompidou Center, with the inventory number AM 1999-1-1. G. Gramigna's Repertorio del design Italiano 1950-1980 (Mondadori, 1985) also features this pioneering piece of Italian design.
