Constructed of chromed metal, the Mies armchair features a latex seat that reacts to pressure from the body's weight. The accompanying ottoman measures W 105 cm x D 20 cm x H 34 cm. The concept for the Mies armchair materialized in 1969, when a strip of para or rubber- sturdy and flexible materials- was utilized for the seat. The triangle-shaped, chromed-metal structure emphasizes the chair's sleek silhouette. In addition, a pony headrest cushion and illuminated footrest are included. The chair's name pays homage to the great master Mies van der Rohe, who died the same year. The Mies armchair's rigorous geometry encapsulates the design philosophy of the Italian Radical Movement's Archizoom Associati, a leading member of the 1960s culture.
