This exceptional piece is the "Castore" dining table designed by Angelo Mangiarotti in 1975 for Sorgente dei Mobili. A true rarity, this table boasts a glass top that sits gracefully on a solid marble base. Despite its weighty appearance, Mangiarotti ingeniously creates the illusion of a small marble bowl gently cradling the glass top. Adding to the table's graceful appearance, both the pillar and bowl feature rounded corners that soften the overall aesthetic. The removable marble bowl is not merely a functional element, but a beautiful design feature. Its addition creates even more rounded corners, as it reflects onto the glass top. This exquisite piece is in excellent condition, with no scratches or dents on the marble base. The bowl does have a few small dents, but they do not detract from the overall beauty of the design. The glass top shows some light signs of wear and minor scratches due to age, but this does not detract from the elegance of the piece. This dining table appeared in the June 1975 edition of Domus (num. 546) on page 44.
