Angelo Mangiarotti, an Italian architect, sculptor and designer, created the Castore table, which is comprised of glass and marble. Originally designed in 1975 for Sorgente dei Mobili, the Castore's unique design is now presented by Karakter and is offered as a 130cm dining table. The glass top is circular and is supported by a weighty marble pillar. VIsually, the design appears as though a small marble bowl is the only thing holding the glass plate in place. The softness of the rounded corners on both the pillar and the bowl provides a contrast to the otherwise weighty marble aesthetic. The marble bowl can be used separately or left as an integral component of the design to offer additional rounded corners as it reflects in the glass table top. Please note that while some of the images may depict other colors and versions of the model, these are strictly for the purpose of presenting interior design proposals; the item being sold is shown in the first image. Additionally, color may vary from what you see on your computer monitor. Angelo Mangiarotti's design philosophy centers on the belief that every material be used in an honest and appropriate way, while Karakter is a Danish design company that has a portfolio of furniture, lighting and objects that is relevant, expressive and sometimes playful. They collaborate with contemporary designers and offer designs by masters such as Angelo Mangiarotti.
