Designed by Alvar and his wife Aino Aalto, the 'Golden Bell' pendant lamp was first created in 1936 for the Savoy restaurant in Helsinki. As was typical of Aalto's approach to architecture, he regarded every aspect of a building - including furniture and light fixtures - as integral parts of a complete work of art. The lamp's distinctive shade features a perforated pattern around its rim that produces a beautiful interplay of light and shadow. The lamp also includes the original E27 light fitting and textile cable, which can be replaced with new items free of charge. The final image exhibits a page from the 1967 Poulsen catalogue in an appealing manner.
