A rare collector's item, created in 1958 and produced in a limited run of only 80 numbered pieces in 2015, is the Alvar Aalto-designed coffee table, known as the Maison Carré Table in the Artek 80th Anniversary Edition (numbered 55/80). The top is made of black-dyed birch, supported by birch fan legs. This piece comes with its original box, certificate, and book, and has never been used, always having been kept in its original box. The plaque has also been marked. Maison Carré is an essential private residence that Alvar Aalto, known as the father of Scandinavian modernism, designed. The house was created for Louis Carré, a renowned French art dealer and art gallery owner, whose wishes were for a family home with hanging space for paintings that did not look like an art gallery. The residence was constructed in the late 1950s in a town situated 40 kilometers southwest of Paris. The Finnish Cultural Foundation has now obtained the house and opened it to the public.
