These are a stylish pair of wingback lounge chairs, model 401, designed by Alvar Aalto for Artek, Finland in 1933, which were purchased at Metz and Co. during the 1970s. Their frames are made of birch plywood and they have been newly upholstered in a light grey striped fabric. In addition to their appealing appearance with the striped upholstery, the chairs provide a comfortable seating experience. They are numbered on the underside of the legs and bear impressed and stamped markings. These chairs are original Artek pieces, manufactured in the 1970s.
