In March of 2015, the Nike Air Max 1 "Patch Pack" was introduced to the market, featuring a collection of Air Max Ones. Among them was the Nike Air Max 1 V SP "Green Patch," which boasted an upper in steel green, complemented by an olive green hyperfuse overlay that enveloped the heel and surrounded the entire shoe, serving as a mudguard. The no-sew mudguard design, however, diminished the shoe's front profile somewhat, although the back paneling compensated for it. With velcro, the Green Patch AM1's back panel allowed owners to swap out any of 22 different patches that came as a set with the sneakers. These patches were inspired by different cities around the world, as well as by Nike, Tinker Hatfield, the original Air Max creator, and the original Air Max box, in which the original Air Max 1 was packaged. These patches could also be applied to the tongue, which had a velcro square in place of the usual Nike branding. The monochromatic color scheme of the Green Air Max 1 was easily adaptable to various fashion styles, catching the attention of numerous sneaker and fashion aficionados after gaining momentum through word-of-mouth hype.
