Rather than the typical placement of Elephant Print, the upper's main panels showcased the renowned material, while white tumbled leather replaced the Elephant Print on other areas. The Jordan 3 Retro Flip also introduced a leather inner lining, a first for the AJ3 at the time. Initially, opinions were mixed on online forums such as NT and ISS. Yet, as time went on, the Flip Jordan 3 gained appeal, much like other non-original Air Jordan colorways. The official color of "White/Chrome-Black" featured the new addition of chrome on the Jumpman logo tongue, a fresh take in a time when hip-hop music was moving away from ostentatious ornamentation.
