This stunning square coffee table, crafted from gorgeous wood, hails from the 1970s and was created by the talented designers Afra & Tobia Scarpa for Cassina back in 1965. Not only does it boast a practical wooden top which can be removed, but it's also in excellent vintage condition, with only a few minor scratches and signs of use. Perfect for any living room, this striking piece can complement both traditional and contemporary decor styles with ease. Tobia Scarpa, born in Venice in 1935 to renowned architect Carlo Scarpa, and his wife Afra, began their design journey at the Venini glass factory in Murano in the 1950s. In 1960, they opened their own design studio in Montebelluna and collaborated with leading companies like Flos, Cassina, B&B Italia, and Knoll. Their signature design style prioritizes elegance, comfort, and modern aesthetics, often incorporating new materials and cutting-edge technologies while maintaining simplicity and ease of use. Cassina Spa, an Italian company established in 1927 by Cesare and Umberto Cassina, specializes in contemporary furniture and woodworking. Their initial focus on crafting coffee tables expanded with collaborations with skilled external architects and adoption of industrial design principles in the 1950s. The company's growth was also driven by commissions to furnish the inside of luxury cruise ships.
