. The "Soriana" two-seater sofa, designed by Tobia and Afra Scarpa for Cassina in 1969, is synonymous with the 1970s era. This low-slung sofa is designed to embrace its user with its curved form, while the standout feature is its minimalist chromed steel structure. The steel rod frame keeps the cover firmly in place using buttons, and creates a T-shape which encloses the polyurethane filter. The sofa won the prestigious Compasso d'Oro prize in 1970. Afra Bianchin and Tobia Scarpa, who collaborated from 1957, were renowned for their unconventional approach to design. They worked with top companies like Gavina, B&B Italia, and Cassina, and their works are displayed in various famous museums worldwide, including the Louvre in Paris and the MoMa in New York. We carefully restored and reupholstered this sofa in black leather, though there may be slight signs of wear due to age. However, this sofa is highly customizable and can be upholstered in any material of your choice. Our team of talented artisans would be happy to help you create a custom finish to your specifications.
