This is a rare Soriana chaise longue with pouff designed by Afra & Tobia Scarpa for Cassina, Italy in 1969. The piece has been recently reupholstered in a stunning plum leather. The original foam is still in great condition and retains its recognizable, rounded shape. The underlying concept behind the Soriana collection was to create a design that would convey both comfort and ease by using chrome-plated metal clamps to hold together a bundle of fabrics or leather. In 1970, the Soriana series was honored with the prestigious Compasso d'Oro prize.
