The lounge chairs, known as "Soriana," were designed by Tobia and Afra Scarpa in Italy in the 1960s, but their popularity skyrocketed in the following decade. These chairs have a distinct, low design that invites you to sink into their curves. However, the most eye-catching aspect of these lounge chairs is their minimalist structure in chromed steel, which holds the cover tightly with buttons at the seat, creating a beautiful and functional design. The external rods curve along the sides and back, while the T-shaped metal parts enclose the seat and polyurethane filter like a vice. In 1970, "Soriana" was awarded the prestigious Compasso d'Oro prize. Afra Bianchin (1937-2011) and Tobia Scarpa (1935) began working together in 1957, and their collaboration continued into the 1960s and beyond. They worked with top companies like Gavina, B&B Italia, and Cassina, creating innovative designs that blended various materials and shapes. Their work is on display in numerous museums worldwide, including the Musée du Louvre in Paris and New York's MoMa.
