Ten black lacquered "121" dining chairs by Afra and Tobia Scarpa for Cassina are available for purchase. This modern design showcases Scarpa's trademark double trestle structure with a rounded joint, while maintaining a cubical volume and slender, anatomically shaped surfaces. The seat and back consist of plywood, securely fastened to center crosspieces with bolts. A reinforcement necessitates a lower cutout in the back, which reacts to torsion stress that is particularly strong at this point. All chairs possess the original "Cassina" sticker and originate from the same set. Afra and Tobia Scarpa were pioneers in unconventional thinking and material experimentation. Their designs are globally exhibited in well-known museums such as the MoMa and Musée du Louvre. These chairs were carefully refurbished by our atelier and display slight signs of slight use and age in a charming way.
